But Jackson isn’t used to rejection, and if Piper thinks it’s going to be easy to move on from their tryst, she’s underestimated his determination.

This is the second book in the Misadventures Series and so far have been truly standalone books. I’ve read a few of Ms Ryan’s books, and I’ve enjoyed each.
Piper is new to the city, but hasn’t really gotten out of her apartment. I absolutely loved the opening line “My Netfilx account was judging me.” I know I’ve thought the same thing binge watching. But Piper’s sister isn’t going to let her keep it up. After creating a profile on a dating site, Hailey sets Piper up on a date. Enter Jackson, the incredibly hot one night stand. Fast forward a bit to the first day of her new job, Jackson is her new boss. Loved these two from the beginning. Piper is an organized sweetheart. Jackson is a dreamy alpha, but totally upfront he’s not after a relationship. As you can possibly imagine, trying to be just coworkers after their one night poses a challenge. The dynamics between Piper and Jackson are steamy and very entertaining.
Another winner from the talented Kendall Ryan.
Fun and sexy! Lauren sexted with a man on a dating app, then promptly deleted her profile. Imagine her shock and surprise when that same man, Dr. Ryan Castle, shows up at her hospital as her new attending. Lauren has big issues with their age difference. Ryan is roughly 10 yrs younger than Lauren. But the attraction between them is strong.
Throw in some lousy (I want to use a different word here, but I try to keep my reviews profanity-free) moves from Lauren’s ex-husband (I love Ryan’s description of Samuel), and cross-Ryan’s-heart it was an accident, spilt coffee. You have drama to go right along with the comedic moments in this book. It’s been a while since I’ve read one of Ms. DePaul’s book, I forgot how much I love her work.
Virna DePaul is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, and a former criminal prosecutor who writes thrilling, sexy stories about ordinary people overcoming extraordinary obstacles to find love. She has been traditionally published with Penguin, Harlequin, and Random House, and is also a bestselling Indie author.

Mayson isn’t the kind of girl to take unnecessary risk, but after meeting
Harlen MacCabe, she starts to wonder if maybe she should be. The more time she
spends with the wild and free biker, the more she starts to crave the freedom
he gives her… And even more, she starts to crave him.
Harlen lives his life on his own terms. After losing both his parents at an
early age to a robbery gone bad, he knows how precious life is, and he’s
determined to get as much out of it as he can. When he runs into the beautiful
Harmony and finds out she’s moving to town, he knows it’s time to take his
shot. She thinks he only wants to be friends, but she couldn’t be more wrong.
What Harmony and Harlen don’t know is that their time might be cut short.
Revenge is in the air, and someone won’t stop until a debt is settled.
Aurora Rose Reynolds is one of my favorite authors. First book I ever read by her was Until Jax, loved it so much went back to the original Until series and fell in love with the parents’ stories. I have never been disappointed in any book of hers, and Until Harmony is not an exception.
Harlen and Harmony are throughly entertaining. The way Harlen more or less “worms” his way into Harmony’s life. Nico, my fav from the parents, and his attempts to scare Harlen l away from his daughter. I could not put this down!
Reynolds is a New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling
author whose wildly popular series include Until, Until Him, Until Her,
Underground Kings and Shooting Stars.

Overall, a throughly entertaining book, although Reid occasionally got on my nerves with his horrific attitude. Callie is brought in, on a probationary period, as manager for On Tap. One slight problem with that, well, actually two problems, Reid wanted that manager job and Callie HATES beer, the drink On Tap is know for.
Throw in some juvenile behavior, some very sexy, steamy moments, a best friend who tries to help fix things, and a few surprises, you have a winner of a book. I hope these two authors will get together again. I’m hoping for a book for Grayson now.

A hot and hilarious new standalone from New York Times bestseller Kendall Ryan.
We met in a trapped elevator.
Emmett was on his way to work, sophisticated and handsome in his tailored suit and tie.
I was on my way to the sperm bank. Awkward, right?
At thirty-five, my life hadn’t taken the path I thought it would and I was tired of waiting—I wanted a baby. And I was ready to take matters into my own hands to make it happen.
After our ill-fated elevator encounter, Emmett insisted on taking me to dinner—he also insisted on something else—that I ditch my plan involving a turkey baster and let him do the job. He would be my baby daddy. He was a wealthy and powerful CEO with little interest in diapers or playdates. And since he didn’t want kids, I’d be on my own once his bun was in my oven, free to go my own way.
But once his baby was inside me, it was like a switch had been flipped, and I got a whole lot more than I ever bargained for.
This full-length standalone contains a hot, swoonworthy hero, lots of playful banter and some hot baby-making ! Enjoy.
Who knew getting stuck in an elevator would lead to such an entertaining story. Of course their chances of survival would not be high if they were seriously stuck.
A bit predictable only in the fact if you try for a baby the old fashioned way, feelings have a high probability of coming into play. But this in no way takes away from the overall charm of Emmett and Jenna’s story. “Ground rules” are laid out at the very beginning, but I loved how feelings quickly started changing but each was reluctant to let those feelings known. A few twists and surprises along the way. This is a wonderfully sexy book.
A New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author of more than two dozen titles, Kendall Ryan has sold over 1.5 million books and her books have been translated into several languages in countries around the world. She’s a traditionally published author with Simon & Schuster and Harper Collins UK, as well as an independently published author. When I was younger, I read historical romances all the time. But now, my tastes are a more contemporary romances. When I saw the opportunity to read Devil in Tartan, I was intrigued by the blurb. So, I read my first Julia London book. I was not disappointed. It’s a great story with powerful characters. Aulay and Lottie make an interesting duo, of course it takes a while for them to get there.
She sank onto a chair, suddenly aware of the heaviness that pervaded every limb, exhaustion settling in. She crossed her arms on the table, lay her head down on them and closed her eyes…but visions of the day plagued her mind’s eye.
It was a catastrophe—there could be no other word that would adequately describe it. It had really begun a fortnight ago, in the early evening of Sankt Hans, the annual celebration of midsummer. The Livingstone clan had been preparing for a play, one written and produced by Duff. Duff fancied himself quite the actor, and he’d rallied a few members of the clan to join his theatrical troupe. There were six of them set to perform when they heard the warning horn from Old Donnie. He lived on the tip of the island just across the loch from Port Appin, and it was his job to sound the horn if anything or anyone should come to the island.
Everyone had frantically begun to gather up incriminating whisky jugs. “What of the play?” Duff had wailed unhappily.
It just so happened that Lottie’s horse, Stjerne, was still saddled from her participation in the pony races, and when she saw Norval and Bear Livingstone leap to their horses, she joined them. It was the way of things on Lismore—she was always in the thick of things.
She’d not been the least surprised to find Laird Campbell, his periwig tightly curled and overly powdered, skulking among the rabbits. It wasn’t his first attempt to find the stills. Naturally, Mr. Edwin MacColl, the chief of the clan who inhabited what the Livingstones considered to be the good side of their island, would accompany him.
Lottie had always liked Mr. MacCollas long as he stayed on his end of the island. He was a widower, his children grown and married with children of their own. He was older than Lottie’s father, but still had a broad chest and thick, snowy brows that slid up when he smiled wistfully at Lottie as he was wont to do.
But his visits to the north end had become all too frequent of late, and quite recently, he’d suggested to Bernt that Lottie might make him a good wife. “I’ve a nice house for her to keep, plenty of food for the table,” he’d suggested, apparently considering these two facts to be his better points of persuasion.
Lottie had not been surprised by the offer. Frankly, on an island where unmarried lassies were not plentiful, every man seemed to believe himself her perfect match, just as her mother had predicted, God rest her soul.
Her mother had warned Lottie of her allure to males. “You’re a beauty, lass, and men are drawn to beauty to their own detriment like moths to light, aye? You must no’ allow them to turn your head with bonny words and empty promises. You must be diligent in seeking the man who honors you for your heart and no’ your face, then, do you understand me? And beware your own father, lass—aye, he loves you, more than life, he does, but he’s easily persuaded by the promises of others.”

Oh, hello there! Forgive the tone of surprise; it’s been quite some time since I’ve had a visitor, especially one such as yourself.
This is probably weird for you, talking to a book. Well, let me tell you nothing is weirder than being trapped inside of one. This one in fact.
You still there? Oh good! The name’s Chance. What’s yours?
It’s a pleasure to meet you and even more so that you’ve stuck around! Now this may be a strange request, but I was wondering if it would be possible for you to help me out of my situation?
If so, all I need you to do is open this book to find out more…
Very short, quick read, but unlike ANYTHING I’ve read before. I’m not sure what I can say about this awesome book without giving any spoilers. I was sucked in from the beginning. Almost to the point I worried I’d be joining Chase. I’m just absolutely blown away by Mr. Czermak’s talented writing.

My dreams haunt me. I feel as if I am falling into a pit of impending doom, but even that has not prepared me for the roller-coaster of emotions that flood over me when I’m near Phoenix. I have to keep my distance from her. I need to. It’s the only thing I can do to keep from getting hurt again. Staying away from her proves to be a much harder task than I could have ever imagined. She’s not only my assistant, she’s half my age. She gets under my skin and irritates the shit out of me, yet, one smile, one laugh, and I’m melting into a puddle at her feet. Falling in love with her is a bad idea, a very bad idea because she just may be the one who breaks my heart for good this time.
Nico is my boss. He’s demanding, bitter, brooding, and a downright bully at times. But, all that doesn’t deter me from him at all because I can see the kindness and compassion in his eyes. I know the secret he’s keeping from everyone and why he’s so guarded with his heart. I don’t care about his secret, nor do I care that he’s twice my age. What matters is the undeniable attraction we feel for each other. If only he can just let go of the past and see what’s right in front of him.
I love the combination of Nico and Phe. The two have vastly different personalities which which makes for some very entertaining moments. But one thing they have in common is both are incredibly stubborn. Both are bad at jumping to conclusions, Nico especially. Enough that a time or two (or five or six) I wanted to reach in the book and slap them upside the head. But fantastic story despite occasional frustration with the behavior of theses two on my part. Now we just need books for Gio and Josh (separately of course). But seriously, watching Nico and Phe is a rollercoaster you don’t want to miss.
Additional on the Audible version….
Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross are without a doubt my two favorite narrators. Both bring the books they read to life. And I could easily listen to them for unending hours. Phenomenal job!
He’s not a douchebag;
but that doesn’t stop his friends from
turning him into one.
MY FRIENDS WANT ME TO GET LAID.
So much so that they plastered my ugly mug all over campus, in bold printed letters:
Are you the lucky lady who’s going to break our roommate’s cherry?
Him: socially awkward man with average-sized penis looking for willing sexual partner. You: must have pulse. Text him at: 555-254-5551
The morons can’t even spell. And the texts I’ve been receiving are what wet dreams are made of. But I’m not like these douchebags, no matter how hard they try to turn me into one.
THIS ISN’T THE KIND OF ATTENTION I WANT.
One text stands out from hundreds. One number I can’t bring myself to block. She seems different. Hotter, even in black and white.
However, after seeing her in person, I know she’s not the girl for me. But my friends won’t let up–they just don’t get it. Douchebags or not, there’s one thing they’ll never understand: GIRLS DON’T WANT ME.
He’s seated at a table in the far corner when I spot him from the door. He’s not hard to miss–not with his purple t-shirt in a sea of black and yellow, and wavy mussed hair.
He’s slouching, hunched over his table.
My stomach rolls with nerves, nerves that have me rooted to the spot in the doorway, watching him.
For the entire four minutes I stand here, he sits immobile, studying his laptop, eyes moving along the screen, completely transfixed by whatever he’s reading.
“Just go over there,” I whisper to myself, blowing out a puff of pent-up air.
I put one foot in front of the other and begin toward him, spine ramrod straight, steeling myself, prepared for another argument.
“Do you mind if I sit here?” I lay my hand on the back of the wooden chair across from him, intending to pull it out.
He stiffens but doesn’t lift his head. “Yes I mind.”
“Would you mind if I sat at the table next to you?” I’m pushing his buttons, looking for a reaction, but he only spares me a brief glance.
Shrugs. “Free country.”
I bite my lip to hide a smile, glad he didn’t tell me to take a hike…
I like the story for the most part. Some of the college pranks and behaviors really got on my nerves. And I almost stopped listening/reading. Guess I’m too old to REALLY enjoy college age stories. But in the long run, I really liked it the story itself.
The audio left a bit to be desired. Both narrators have great sounding voices and are pleasant to listen to. Muffy Newton did a decent job using different voices for the different charaters. But in my opinion, Josh really didn’t have any distinctive voices for the different characters. For example, Rhett is from Louisiana. Lived there his whole life until transferring to Iowa. He has southern manners and uses southern slang, but almost never had a southern accent. I only hear the occasional hint of a southern “twang”.
